NOTES FOR EDUCATION commits to multi-year investment in Metro Nashville Public Schools’ music teachers and students
NOTES for EDUCATION provides direct investment in every music teacher’s classroom to celebrate decade-long partnership to grow music education programs in Nashville
NOTES for EDUCATION™ is celebrating a decade of investing in Metro Nashville Public Schools’ music education programs by providing a three-year gift with up to $100,000 per year in funding for a total of almost $300,000.
One of the most universal needs for MNPS music teachers is discretionary funding so they can fill immediate gaps in their classrooms without spending out of their own pockets. To address this need, NOTES for EDUCATION has committed to supporting music education in MNPS by pledging $500 per music teacher each year for the next three years.
“Our district is fortunate to have such a dedicated partner in NOTES for EDUCATION, whose generosity makes every music classroom across Nashville and Davidson County sound even better,” said Dr. Adrienne Battle, interim director of Metro Nashville Public Schools. “This partnership meets a critical need for our music teachers and enables them to devote even more of their talent and energy to teaching our students.”
“When we started NOTES for EDUCATION over a decade ago, we had a dream that our funds would someday reach every student in the Metro Nashville Public Schools system. Today, it is very humbling and rewarding to see that dream become a reality. We are thrilled to provide this level of ongoing support to students in Music City,” said Debi Leal, President and Co-Founder of NOTES for Education.
“We are grateful to the board and sponsors at NOTES for EDUCATION for their commitment to investing in the work of every music teacher in Metro Nashville Public Schools through this generous gift,” said Jeff Smith, Director of Visual and Performing Arts for MNPS. “Through multi-year support of every music classroom, NOTES for EDUCATION is helping to ensure the success of every music student and teacher.”
NOTES for EDUCATION was founded by Nashville music professionals and Napa Valley wine industry professionals to support arts education for today’s youth and help to develop the artists of tomorrow. NOTES has partnered with organizations such as ASCAP, SunTrust Bank and Nashville’s own The Bluebird Café to host events that bring together accomplished songwriters and winemakers to raise funds to support arts programs in schools in these communities. More than 70 hit songwriters have donated their time and talent to NOTES events, including Chris Stapleton, Carly Pearce, Brothers Osborne, Brandy Clark, Eric Paslay and more. Acclaimed vintners who have participated in these events include Gargiulo Vineyards, Silver Oak, Trespass, Knight’s Bridge, Phifer Pavitt, Silver Trident and Mt. Brave.

NOTES FOR EDUCATION
NOTES for EDUCATION™, Inc. was founded when Nashville music professionals and Napa Valley wine industry professionals began to see the similarities between their industries. Often the names of the individuals who write the music or make the wine are unknown and it is only the products of their passion that receive recognition. With the intention of highlighting the entire process of collaboration that is required within these industries and with respect to the inherent necessity to reach out to our communities, NOTES was formed to support arts education for today’s youth so that we continue to develop the artists of tomorrow. A decision was made to organize events that bring together accomplished songwriters, winemakers, authors and visual artists to raise funds to support arts and literacy programs for the children of our communities. The Board members of NOTES are accomplished professionals in the industries of Music, Arts and Winemaking.
